V-Belts

V-belts (also known as vee-belts) are driving belts with tapered sides that fit into pulleys with side guides. They transfer force from motors to pulleys to operate paddles, rollers, water pumps, compressors, and fans, among other things. The V design of the belt helps it to fit snugly in the pulley, preventing side drift and belt flipping over. For extra stability, banded belts include many grooves running parallel to the length of the belt. They can be used to replace a number of individual V-belts. Cogged belts have grooves that run parallel to the belt's length. The cogs allow the belt to flex, allowing it to be utilized with smaller diameter wheels or with sprocket pulleys to prevent slippage. Link belts can be made to any length and inserted without requiring the drive system to be disassembled.
