Brakes and Clutches
In rotating applications such as horizontal conveyors, gates, and packing machines, brakes and clutches stop and control the movement or speed of motors. Forward and backward movement is slowed or stopped by the use of brakes. Clutches disengage the drive shaft of a connected motor, allowing operators to stop conveyor belts and other industrial equipment from rotating without turning the apparatus or engine off. Torque limiters are used to safeguard machinery from damage caused by mechanical overload.
