Thrust Washers

Thrust bearings are a form of rotary bearing that allows rotating parts to move smoothly while supporting axial stresses in one direction (those parallel to the shaft). They are made up of rollers enclosed in a cage that sits between two thrust washers or raceways. Thrust bearings are an excellent choice for applications where shaft misalignment is unlikely since they cannot withstand radial loads (loads that are perpendicular to the shaft). Thrust washers are flat washers with a smooth surface on which roller parts can ride without wearing out. They keep a shaft bearing an axial load from moving along its axis. Thrust washers are commonly utilized as fatigue liners for soft housing faces or in conjunction with needle roller and cage assemblies for additional support
