Black Pipe Fittings
For carrying gas and water, protecting electrical wiring, or supplying high-pressure steam and air, threaded black steel fittings connect to black steel and black iron pipe. Corrosion-resistant ungalvanized steel with a scaly, dark-colored iron oxide coating is used to make uncoated black steel and iron fittings, also known as black malleable iron fittings. These fittings are used to change the direction of piping systems or connect to equipment or devices. Threaded fittings twist onto pipe utilizing a variety of male and female thread connections, such as NPT (National Pipe Thread) or BSPT (British Standard Pipe Thread) (British Standard Pipe Taper). Threaded fittings are available in a wide range of sizes and forms.
