Socket Sets

For loosening and tightening fasteners, all-purpose socket sets include a variety of sockets, socket bits, drive tools, and wrenches in various sizes and styles. Sockets fit on the outside of the fastener, giving them more contact than an open-end wrench and allowing them to apply more torque because the socket is less likely to come off. For secure attachment to the drive tool, drive tools have a square nub called the drive that fits into the same size drive end of the socket or socket bit. To turn the socket or socket bit and rotate the fastener, you'll need to use a hand drive tool like a ratchet, breaker bar, or socket bit driver.
