Ear Muffs
Earmuffs are a type of hearing protection that fits over the ears and protects against potentially dangerous sound levels that can lead to hearing loss. Padded ear cups form a barrier over the ears, reducing outside noise. When compared to earplugs, safety earmuffs have a longer life span and a more uniform fit to achieve the best noise reduction rating (NRR). They're also more visible than earplugs, making it easier to ensure that personnel follow hearing safety regulations. Because they can rest around the neck when not in use and don't require rolling to reequip, protective earmuffs are appropriate for areas with intermittent noise. They can be used in conjunction with earplugs to boost the NRR.
