Hole Saws

To make holes in wood, metal, and other materials, hole saws and hole cutters are used in a drill. They have a thin cutting edge that removes a ring of material from the workpiece while leaving the center intact. Hole saws are used to cut wood and mixed materials and have a linear-edge blade soldered to the rim. Hole cutters, like circular saw blades, have individual carbide-tipped cutting teeth. They are commonly used to cut metal and feature a bigger body and fewer cutting teeth than hole saws. Removing a ring of material while leaving the center intact decreases the time it takes to drill a hole and allows you to use a handheld power drill to make a larger hole.
