Annular Cutters
Annular cutters are used in magnetic-base drills, drill presses, and milling machines to produce smooth-walled, burr-free holes in a single pass. Standard twist drill bits consume less power, use less torque, make fewer chips, and drill to tighter tolerances. They also don't need to be pre-drilled or step-drilled. Annular cutters have a hollow core surrounded by teeth that drill through the hole's perimeter, leaving a solid slug in the middle. They also have flutes that take chips out of the hole when drilling, as well as a pilot pin that aligns the cutters while drilling and allows coolant to flow to their tips. When employing annular cutters with drill presses and milling machines, arbor adapters are required.
