Indexable Inserts

Inserts for suitable indexable drill bits produce a cutting edge for drilling holes in workpieces. The inserts are designed to fit into seats that are sized and formed to fit specific types of inserts. When the old cutting edge dulls, they can be rotated (indexed) to expose a new one. Without removing the drill bits from the machine, they can be replaced with fresh inserts of the same or different types. In high-volume metalworking and fabrication applications with high speeds, high feeds, and difficult-to-machine materials, drill bits with indexable inserts need fewer tool changes than solid tools.
