Surface Testers

Surface roughness testers, also known as roughness gauges, are handheld instruments that use a stylus with a small, smooth contact point to trace the surface of a workpiece and measure minute imperfections. On the LCD panel, the surface measurements are presented. The tester calculates different standard parameters to characterize the surface roughness based on the measured surface profile.
