Hitch Pins
Hitch pins are used to connect equipment and parts that need to be disconnected and reconnected often. They have a shaft that fits through a predrilled hole and is held in place by a clip, cotter pin, or other mechanism. To fasten a trailer ball mount to a receiver hitch, large hitch pin sizes are typically utilized on vehicles. Instead of utilizing separate cotter pins or clips, ring pins (also known as cotterless hitch pins) incorporate a spring-loaded ball locking mechanism in the shaft.
