Plasma Torches

Plasma torches are used to make accurate cuts or gouges in metals such as steel, stainless steel, and aluminum when connected to appropriate plasma cutters. When used on thin materials, they produce minimal slag and cause minimum distortion. The plasma cutter provides power to the plasma torch as well as an electrode kept within the torch. The electrode creates an arc, which is conveyed in a jet of compressed gas that is focussed as it passes through the nozzle of the torch. This jet of ionized compressed gas (or plasma) melts the workpiece material and blows the molten material away, leaving a cut or gouge.
