Band Saws
Band saws cut wood, metal, and other materials with a flexible blade that rotates around two wheels. They can cut both straight and curved lines. The wheels spin to move the blade, which slices the workpiece as it travels downward. Electricians, plumbers, and construction workers utilize portable band saws (also known as portabands) to cut pipe, threaded rod, and structural parts in wood and metal. Stationary band saws are floor-standing machines with a workpiece-supporting table. They can cut wood, metal, or a combination of the two. Carpentry, machine, and facility maintenance shops all employ them.
