Cordless Impact Drivers
When creating holes and driving screws, cordless impact drivers use an impact force to boost torque. The tool works in the same way as a regular drill, but it incorporates an impact mechanism that activates when it hits resistance. While the bit or fastener is spun between strikes, the impact force is equivalent to that of a hammer striking an anvil. Standard drills and impact wrenches are often heavier and smaller than impact drivers. They have a 1/4" hex head and take impact-rated 1/4" hex bits. Because cordless tools are powered by batteries, they are portable and do not require a wired power source. Brand-specific batteries can typically be used with other cordless instruments from the same brand/manufacturer if the battery series and voltage are the same.
