Cordless Cut-Out Tools
Cut drywall and other materials with cordless cut-out tools that spin like a drill but cut like a saw. They make a plunge cut and then move up, down, or sideways to cut through material, and are also known as spiral saws and drywall routers. Cut along a straightedge, produce curved freehand cuts, and follow the shape of electrical boxes, panels, and frames to make cutouts with their barrel-grip body. When tracing inside a box, the bit rotation allows for clockwise cuts, while when tracing outside a box, it allows for counterclockwise cuts. They have a depth gauge that can be adjusted to control how deep the bit cuts into the material. To make deep cuts, the gauge can be removed. These tools are battery-powered, making them more portable than corded equipment and allowing them to be used where a wired power source is not accessible. They make use of brand-specific batteries that are compatible with a variety of instruments from the same manufacturer. The voltage and series of the batteries must be compatible with the tool.
