Diaphragm Compressor
Air pressure and vacuum are generated in the same unit by diaphragm combination compressors and vacuum pumps. There are two ports for connecting a hose, one for pressure and the other for vacuum. A flexible diaphragm, or membrane, pulls air into an air chamber in these diaphragm combination devices. The diaphragm acts as a barrier between the air and the pump mechanism, preventing corrosive vapors from coming into touch with the pump's parts. They're employed in places like laboratories where chemical gases are a possibility.
