Toolholders

Cutting tools are attached to machine tools by toolholders and tooling systems. Boring heads and holders are used to attach a boring tool to a milling, turning, or lathe machine. On a milling machine, lathe, or other machine tool, collets hold small-diameter cutting tools or workpieces. Installing and removing drill bits from a drilling machine, milling machine, or lathe requires drill chucks and accessories. Rotary toolholding items connect rotary cutting tools to machine tools that are compatible with them or provide storage for toolholders. For high-speed, high-feed machining, shrink-fit machines and toolholders offer a well-balanced, high-grip toolholder arrangement. To form threads in holes, tapping heads and holders connect taps to drilling and milling machines. Cutting tools are attached to lathes or CNC lathes using tool posts and tool post holders. Tool alignment gauges ensure that a toolholder is properly positioned within a machine spindle.
